Here’s the definition (and the Rhino file and jpg) that drove the Market Activity animation. The file is annotated, so feel free to explore at-will. The definition is really a string of one repeated series of components, which I’m calling a “dispatch and shift utility.”

As you can see from the screengrab, an aspect of a list of data (usually its length, etc, but in this example, it’s just a param slider..) is measured against an adjustable threshold. When the threshold is reached, the data passes through the dispatch component, only to be “Jittered.” Re-ordering the list this way is what lets you have umbrellas and people pop up willy nilly. Finally, Shift List + Param Slider makes more or less of the data visible.

The basic unit is pretty straightforward, but within the larger definition, there are several variations, and parts of it begin to become rather inelegant. Any thoughts on how it all could be streamlined?
